A label gives your product a clear, visible signature. To make your design work well and help the label handle its intended use, the material matters. In our production, we work with genuine leather as well as modern plant-based alternatives every day. Here we share practical material guidance for branding that suits the full life of your textile product.

Material check: tactile feel and washability in practice

From our daily production experience: this is how the materials differ in feel and function:

• Genuine leather: The right choice when the label should feel natural, soft and grippy. It is not suitable for washing. A good fit for coats, bags or hats that do not go into the washing machine.
• Classic faux leather: A durable option for everyday and textile projects. Machine washable, easy to care for and suitable for clothing that is cleaned regularly.
• Cactus and apple faux leather: Vegan favorites with two different feels. Cactus faux leather has a slightly firmer touch and works well for sturdy logo patches. Apple faux leather feels noticeably softer and more supple. Its fine, tactile grain gives the label a refined surface.
• FloraPap^® & cork: Cork has a distinctive patterned texture, but it is not suitable for intensive washing. FloraPap, a tear-resistant cellulose-latex blend, develops a leather-like vintage look after washing.

Finishing: when to engrave and when to print?

Our lasers engrave your design precisely into the surface of your leather label. On genuine leather, faux leather and cork, this creates an elegant, slightly recessed contrast effect. It works well for leather labels with detailed logos, fine lines and lettering.
Our production tip: If your motif or logo uses several colors or fine color gradients, choose high-resolution UV color printing for your label. Colors show clearly on cactus faux leather and are suitable for washable label designs when used as intended.
