Every material and raw material we purchase reflects a conscious decision—not just for our company but also for the environment. We prioritize top-quality materials, reliable supply chains, and ethical production conditions while actively avoiding long transport routes to minimize our ecological footprint.
Using Regional Materials
Whenever possible, we source materials locally to ensure sustainability and support regional businesses. Here are some examples:
- Leather labels: Our leather labels are made from natural leather sourced from German young bulls, tanned using toxin-free, natural minerals and plant-based substances.
- Wood labels: Our wood labels are crafted from locally sourced beech and poplar, ensuring that we use only sustainable and high-quality wood for our products.
Importing with Care
Some raw materials are not available in Germany, but we still prioritize the highest quality and sustainability in our sourcing decisions. For example:
- Cotton for woven labels: For woven labels, cotton threads must meet exceptionally high standards. That’s why we use fine-twisted cotton yarn for our Cottonera woven labels, sourced from handpicked, combed, and gassed long-staple Egyptian cotton (Giza - Gossypium barbadense). Processing and dyeing take place under certified conditions with a trusted German partner.
- Organic cotton labels and professional care labels (Cotton): Are made from undyed, certified organic cotton yarn, which we also source from a German supplier.
- Polyester for woven labels: For polyester woven labels, we rely on recycled yarns, making sustainability our standard.
Innovative Materials
Our vegan leather is made from 100 % toxin-free polyurethane. For our specially developed cactus leather, a significant portion of the polyurethane is replaced by plant fibers from the Mexican prickly pear cactus, offering a more sustainable alternative.
Our proprietary FloraPap material blends cellulose and latex, creating a unique, eco-friendly option. Produced in Germany, FloraPap is free from pentachlorophenol, PVC, and BPA, ensuring it is safe for both the environment and human health. The cellulose is sourced from sustainably managed Scandinavian forests, while the synthetic latex is produced in Germany.
